Verification Of Expected Death

Course Details

Aim: A two hour course designed to enable nurses to be able to verify expected deaths of their patients within their area of work. 

Participants: Suitable for registered nurses, with manager's agreement. 

Methods: Presentation, discussion and practical competency.

Learning Outcomes: 

  • To provide the learner with a clear understanding of the current UK legislation regarding verification of death by registered nurses.
  • Identify and recognise professional responsibilities relating to verification of death
  • Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge and skills to undertake this role through the specific training and competency assessment
  • To verify death in accordance and compliance with policy and appropriate documentation 

Venue: Education Centre, Mountbatten Hampshire Hospice
