A music video featuring 121 professional musicians has been created during lockdown, in support of Mountbatten Hampshire.

Colin Willsher, a composer and musician from Southampton, brought everyone together to record Stevie Wonder’s Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing.

The music and video took Colin nine weeks to produce and includes 40 vocalists, 29 horns, 15 guitarists, 13 drummers, 12 pianists, 11 bassists and one cello.

It has already exceeded its original target of £1,000 for Mountbatten Hampshire, the local hospice for Southampton and west Hampshire.

“I originally set out to show some solidarity with all the professional musicians I have had the pleasure of working with, who are struggling through the coronavirus outbreak,” said Colin.

“All are self-employed and have lost all their work until long after this is over.

“However, I have become increasingly aware this may be the least of our problems, as everyone is suffering in some way.

“I know of one family member and one friend who has died of cancer at home recently and one of our contributors was diagnosed with a form of Leukaemia but continues his charity work and entertaining the world via social media while in isolation.

“Whatever you can do to support them in this time of need is so gratefully received and appreciated.

“I hope you enjoy the music – it has been a long road to get this together.”

The video has attracted more than 6,000 views on YouTube and Colin hopes it continues to go viral, while raising vital funds and awareness for Mountbatten Hampshire.

“It is an extraordinary hospice,” he said.

“Even aged eight, I vividly recall the amazing end-of-life care it gave to my nan, some 40 years ago.

“Their work continues today and has been made all the harder during the coronavirus outbreak.

“Please give what you can to help them in their fantastic work.”
