Mountbatten Hampshire volunteers, John and Jenny Sutton, will cycle 52 miles in their back garden on Sunday, in support of hospices.

The Colden Common couple are taking part in the 2.6 Challenge to raise money for Mountbatten Hampshire and other hospices across the county.

John, 73, has cunningly converted their electric bikes into static versions, enabling the pair to clock up the miles in the comfort of their garden.

“It is going to be a long day but one we want to do for our wonderful hospices who provide services in different parts of Hampshire,” said Jenny.

“We know this is a very difficult time for everyone but we need our hospices, they do amazing work and support so many people.

“If we can do our little bit to help, it’s worth some sore legs.”

The couple run the Voices for Hospice Choir group, which stages regular concerts and fundraising events.

The coronavirus pandemic has put a halt to all regular fundraising activity but it has not deterred the pair from showing their support.
