Practical Care Skills Overview This study day is essential for anyone who works in care and will provide information and practical skills to ensure that we are all providing high quality care to those most vulnerable in our community, whether they are living within their own homes or in a residential or nursing home. Participants Suitable for health and social care assistants. Methods Virtual presentation and discussion via Microsoft Teams. Aim To increase knowledge skills and confidence with practical care skills for unqualified staff working in health and social care within our community , whether they are living within their own home or in a residential or care home Consider the importance of fluids and nutrition and the maintenance of good oral health. Discuss issues relating to continence with methods to maintain independence and dignity. This will include the care of catheters. Consider skin integrity to ensure we recognise what leads to pressure injury and how to support the management of good tissue viability Training Topics Session 1 - Nutrition & hydration including oral hygiene Session 2 - Continence care including catheter care.
