A Christmas lights display in Southampton has raised nearly £30,000 for Mountbatten Hampshire.

Colin and Pam Hilliard, of Boorley Green, have transformed their home every Christmas since 2014, in support of Mountbatten.

To date, they have raised around £29,000 and hope to take their overall total to beyond £30,000 this year.

“It’s an amazing amount of money and we never imagined we would raise anything like that,” said Colin.

“The first one we did raised around £300 but it has grown so much since then.

“Our good friends, Ian and Shar Brown, have also matched our total every year, making a significant contribution to the overall amount.

“This year we have not been able to gather for the switch on as normal but we hope we can still raise lots of money for Mountbatten.

“Round our way, everyone knows someone who has been supported by the hospice and for us, it’s nice to give something to a local cause.”

The display in Oatlands Road features an array of white, blue and red lights, plus an illuminated Santa, polar beers, Christmas messages and other festive decorations.

A donations box is placed on the driveway for people to donate.
