Maureen Klapprott’s daughter spotted an ad for Mountbatten Hampshire volunteers in the local paper and encouraged her mum to apply.

“I was looking for something to keep me busy during retirement. That was just over four years ago, and I have loved every minute of my volunteering journey at Mountbatten, “said Maureen, 73, from Southampton.

Maureen, who loves walking and doing jigsaws in her spare time, enjoys a variety of roles at Mountbatten.

“I volunteer at the West End and Hedge End shops, and on reception at the Hazel Centre at the hospice. At the shops, I steam the clothes, clean the glass shelves, and keep the shops looking good, while at the hospice I greet patients and staff and support the administration team.

“Everyone is so friendly and I enjoy doing something worthwhile for a good purpose. I am very happy volunteering with Mountbatten and would very much recommend it to anyone.”

Come and join Maureen and our amazing team of volunteers.
