To increase knowledge and skills to care for people affected by dementia.

Suitable for anyone working in health and social care settings.

Methods

Presentation, discussion, interactive rehearsals/demonstrations, simulation and small group work.

Learning outcomes

At the end of this short course, participants should be able to:

  • describe what dementia is and how it affects people (including significant others, families and carers)
  • be aware of the support needs of people living with dementia
  • explore communication and behaviour challenges and have strategies to manage these
  • consider the impact of the environment on a person living with dementia
