Learning Objectives

At the end of this short course, participants should be able to:

  • Explain common infections and demonstrate control measures including hand hygiene and appropriate use of personal protective equipment.
  • Consider the importance of fluids and nutrition.
  • Discuss issues relating to continence. This will include the care of catheters, conveens and stoma care.
  • Consider skin integrity to ensure we recognise what leads to pressure injury and how to support the management of good tissue viability.
