Introduction:

The Accredited Mountbatten End of Life Care Programme is led and delivered by the Mountbatten Education Team and various subject specialists. The programme includes training day sessions at Mountbatten Hampshire alongside support sessions as required.

Aim:

  • To provide education on all aspects of end-of-life care from early discussions through to
    bereavement care.
  • Improve skills and confidence and ensuring an organisational approach to the end-of-life
    care is delivered.
  • Focus on quality and the sustainability of quality after the Programme.
  • To support organisations to develop a Service Development Project around End of Life
    Care.

Accreditation Valid for 2 Years

The Programme:

The programme includes 5 study days. Up to 4 staff members from your organisation can attend each programme to become Mountbatten End of Life Care Champions, lead on a service development project and disseminate teaching to other staff. One person attending should be a senior member of staff who can support, embed and sustain organisational change. 

In order to complete the programme, your organisation is required to identify an area of development (related to end of life care) and work towards implementing change. You will be required to present your service development project on Day 5 of the programme. The project will need to focus on CQC Key Lines of Enquiry – Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, Well Led. Organisations will be supported through the process by the Mountbatten Education Team.

Day 1   Values, Quality and Co-ordination of care

Day 2   Recognising when someone is in the last years of life. Advance Care Planning. Communication.

Day 3   Care in the Last Days of Life. Dignity & Spirituality. Holistic Care.

Day 4   Care after death & bereavement. Wellbeing and resilience. 

Day 5   Presentations of service development projects. Reflection and sustainability discussions.

Non Southampton City  - £500 per Organisation (for up to 4 attendees)
