We are opening a new shop in Romsey town centre on Wednesday.

The shop in Church Street will be our fourth charity shop, with others in Hedge End, West End and Weeke, Winchester.

“This is an exciting next step for us at Mountbatten, as we look to grow our retail offer across the areas we provide services,” said Mountbatten CEO Nigel Hartley.

“We have been running as an independent charity for 18 months now and as we move forward, it is absolutely vital we build closer links with the communities we support.

“Income from our shops helps us to fund our services but our shops also give us an important presence in our local high streets.

We are the local hospice for Romsey and the surrounding areas, delivering services within people’s own homes as well as our hospice building in West End, Southampton.

“Last year we held our Light Up a Life service in Romsey Abbey, which was attended by the Countess Mountbatten of Burma.

We hope the shop will continue building on the close links we have with the town.”

The shop will sell a range of items including clothes, bric-a-brac, jewellery and other gifts.

Social distancing measures have been introduced, in line with government guidance around Covid-19.

Until Christmas, the shop will open seven days a week between 9am and 5pm.

After Christmas, it will be closed on Sundays.

Good quality donations to sell would be welcome and they can be taken to the shop during opening hours.

Anyone who would like to volunteer is encouraged to call in and speak to the manager.
