This year, we are marking our 45th anniversary with a host of special events.

Mountbatten Hampshire, formerly Countess Mountbatten Hospice, has provided end-of-life care since it opened in 1977 and today it runs as an independent charity, supported largely by the local communities we serve across Southampton and west Hampshire.

A torch-bearing run, a sailing regatta and a party open to everyone will all form part of the celebrations.

“When this hospice opened, it was only the second of its kind in the UK,” said Nigel Hartley, Mountbatten CEO.

“Over the course of time, we have had periods of real excellence here.

“Today, working to a different model of hospice care, independent of the NHS, we are striving to develop our services to support more people.

“It is really important our local communities know about our services and know we are there for them.

“This anniversary gives us an opportunity to talk about Mountbatten, celebrate our work, but also look to the future and help inform people about ourselves and the support we can offer.”

Our 45th anniversary logo has been specially designed to commemorate the occasion focusing on ’45 years of kindness’ and will be used during the anniversary year.
