Wellies and Walkies specific terms and conditions   

  • Wellies and Walkies is a mass participation event,and all walkers will be starting the walk together. We anticipate over 150 dogs taking part and therefore we ask that only friendly and well-behaved dogs attend the event.   
  • All dogs must remain on leads throughout the walk and owners must pick up after their dogs.  
  • Accompanying owners must be over 18 and responsible for their dog at all times.  
  • Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.  
  • There are two routes to choose from, 3km and 4km The route you choose can be decided on the day. 
  • The 3k walk is suitable for all dogs and the 4k walk is a longer muddy route. Walkers are more than welcome to do the route more than once.   
  • If you or your dog have a medical condition which could be affected by exercise, please obtain your vet's and/or doctor’s approval before participation. 
  • Participants must wear sensible footwear and always take care.  

Entry fee   

  • The entry fee is £10 per person. There is no fee for dogs.
  • The non-refundable entry fee is to cover the cost of administration and resources for the Wellies and Walkies event.  
  • We ask you and your dog to raise sponsorship. Every pound raised will help us continue to provide vital services to people across Southampton and west Hampshire.   
  • For an additional £5 you can purchase a doggie bandana, which you will be given on the day of the event. The bandanas come in two sizes: Small to Medium (54cms x27cms) and Medium to large (74cms x 37cms). Please notify us which size bandana you would like when you sign up. Alternative sizes other than ordered will not be available.    

    Disclaimer   

    • You and your dog enter the Wellies and Walkies event at your own risk and should not take part unless medically fit to walk the 3km or 4km route. While all reasonable action has been taken by Mountbatten Hampshire (MH) to ensure the safety of participants, MH cannot be held accountable for any injury, loss or damage sustained during this event. MH reserve the right to refuse or cancel applications, to alter the date of the event or details of the event programme. Please be advised if you are unable to attend the new event date, we are unable to refund your entry fee. MH may take photographs of the event and use them in publicity material including on its website. If you do not want your photograph to be used, please let us know in advance.  

    Mountbatten event participation terms and conditions and privacy policy 

    1. General 

    1.1      All participants and supporters must abide by the instructions or regulations displayed or given on the day of the Event by police and/or Event officials/marshals. including any guidance about COVID-19.  

     1.2      We respectfully ask that all participants and supporters do not use aggressive or abusive language towards our Event organisers, marshals, officials, volunteers, and other participants. You should also avoid behaving in a way which may cause injury or harm to other participants and/or spectators, or which may cause offence or damage the reputation of Mountbatten. 

     1.3      Please do not drop litter but instead use the litter and recycling facilities available along the route(s) or take litter home to dispose of responsibly. 

     1.4      We reserve the right to ask participants and supporters to leave an Event if they do not adhere to these Rules.  

    1.5      By taking part in the Event participants confirm that neither Mountbatten Group, providers of hospice and end of life care, nor its sponsors or suppliers will be liable for any loss, damage, illness or injury whatsoever directly or indirectly occasioned by or resulting from their participation in the Event; Including any negligence, wrongful act or default of Mountbatten Group, its sponsors, suppliers and/or their respective agents or from any other causes, including any act of God or the participants physical condition. For the avoidance of doubt, nothing in this clause shall exclude or limit our liability for any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.  

     

    1. Health & Safety and Medical 

    2.1      All Events are non-competitive, non-UKA accredited walks, jogs, runs or cycles. We will therefore allow under 16-year-olds to participate in Mountbatten Group events, but they must always be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian (or by a primary entrant who has the permission of that participant’s parent or legal guardian).  

     2.2      Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are sufficiently fit and healthy to take part in the Event. Anyone unsure of their physical ability to take part in an Event must therefore seek medical advice from a General Practitioner prior to the Event. 

     2.3       Notwithstanding rule 3.2 above, we reserve the right to refuse entry to an Event in our absolute discretion, with no refund provided, if for whatever reason we consider a person unfit to take part. We may also ask you to withdraw during an Event if we have concerns about your ability to complete it due to fitness, injury or otherwise. If you choose to continue you do so with the understanding that you are no longer considered a participant of the Event and that you absolve us of all and any responsibility, and progress entirely at your own risk. 

     2.4       Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are wearing appropriate attire (including footwear) when taking part in an Event, considering the nature of the Event, the weather forecast and the terrain involved. 

     2.5      We take all reasonable steps to minimise the risk of injury to participants during fundraising events. Stringent risk assessment processes are in place for each Event which aim to minimise or eliminate the risk to everyone taking part. By taking part in an Event, all participants acknowledge that there may be conditions or circumstances beyond our control that can lead to unforeseen risks. If you have any concerns or queries, please contact us on 02382 548801 before agreeing to take part in an Event.  

     

    1. Sponsorship Money and Donations 

    3.1       All participants have a legal responsibility to ensure that all sponsorship monies/donations received in connection with an Event are paid to Mountbatten as the charity for which funds are being raised, and we ask that you do this as soon as possible after the Event. Money pledged via online fundraising pages is collected automatically. 

     3.2      Please ensure that all sponsorship forms are filled out in full and are returned to us to enable Gift Aid to be claimed where possible.  

     3.3      We regret that sponsorship money cannot be accepted on the day of the Event as we do not have the suitable cash handling facilities to fulfil this process. 

     3.4      We regret that sponsorship money cannot be accepted in our shops at this time. 

     

    1. Use of your information

    4.1 The information you provide when you register for an Event, will be used for the purposes of organising, staging and administering the Event, processing your donations and any eligible Gift Aid, including to send you your fundraising pack. We may also contact you about our work, fundraising initiatives and opportunities to support us. If you do not wish to receive further contact from us, please call

     4.2       In the case of an emergency we may also pass personal details provided (when registering for the Event) to the emergency services or health care professionals and use them for the purposes of contacting your emergency contact. 

     4.3      First aid facilities will be provided at each Event. If you are treated by medical providers at an Event, your details may be passed on to us only for health and safety purposes and to fulfil our legal obligations (including those under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995). All accident details will be held on our database. 

     4.4      All personal information held by us will be handled in accordance with applicable privacy laws and our privacy statement which can be found at  www.mountbatten-hampshire.org.uk/privacy-policy or you can ask us for a printed copy. 

     

    1. Filming and Photography at our Events 

    5.1       Please note that Mountbatten (or our authorised service providers and agents) or our sponsors, suppliers or partners may film or photograph participants, volunteers and spectators taking part or attending Events and use such footage or photographs for the following reasons : (i) for Mountbatten to publicise the Event for commercial and/or fundraising purposes including, but not limited to, television broadcasts, advertising, publications, marketing material, merchandising, and other documents that may be made available to the public; and (ii) for our sponsors, suppliers or partners to publicise their involvement and/or association with the Event.
